| Is that Seneca Crane? |
This weekend, as you may have already
read in this blog, we had our Hunger Games game night. I cant pretend
it was a smashing success. The Kids had a great time but nothing
really went according to plan. I am often crushed by failure. I have
never been good at bouncing back, but it is necessary if you are
going to work with youth. Youth ministry is one of those areas where
the church should remain flexible and on the edge, trying new things
when ever possible. I tried to create a couple of games. None of them
worked. They wanted to fall back on that old hide and seek mainstay,
sardines. I was afraid they would get bored.
After it was all said and done all the
kids told me they had a great time. How does that not qualify as a
success? As the days get shorter and there is more of a push for
things to do indoors I hope to try many evening events at the church.
We will use the redeemed space that Grace church sets aside for
worship to allow kids to be kids, to see them come fully alive. The
way God has designed them to do. Grace is a small church with a big
heart and a lot of space, space that holds nothing but the
opportunity to make in impact in the lives of young people.
